Ethical Marketing Strategies for Small Business Owners

Ethics are boundaries that define what is acceptable or frowned upon in any field and marketing isn't exempted.

Dear linkers,

It is with immense sadness I write this to you.

I am so pained on behalf of product creators, this level of unethical marketing shouldn't go unpunished.

My stomach is boiling with anger and I just wish I didn't come across that Whatsapp status.

I think I should stop whining and give you the full gist.

I was scrolling through Whatsapp when I came across a status that made me wonder where people buy their audacity from.

"This guy doesn't have the fear of God" was what I said when I saw a post selling paid resources for the sum of 1k.

These resources included;

Lifetime Netflix subscription

Lifetime Canva subscription

Cracked call of duty etc.

Any paid resource you can think of was added there.

As if that was not enough, he was running ads to it.

And I wondered if he knew the implications of such an act.

What if these brands sue you?

Well, that brings me to my lesson for today.

And it's about ethical marketing.

Marketing your business ethically and responsibly can help build trust and loyalty with your customers.

Just like that guy who was in the wrong by selling people's products for life-time access of 1k, I can never trust him.

Or worse, be loyal to his brand.

And I am sure you don't want that to happen to your business.

So, here are some ethical marketing strategies you can adopt today:

🔺Transparency: Be transparent about your business practices and communicate openly with your customers.

No dy do kurukere movements, the moment your customers find out, believe me, they'd stop doing business with you.

🔺Avoid Harmful Stereotypes: Avoid using harmful stereotypes or offensive language in your marketing materials.

There was this era where a certain type of marketers were insulting their customers just so they can see reasons to buy from them.

Please detest it if you've been doing this.

🔺Use Social Media Responsibly: Use social media responsibly and ethically, avoiding cyber bullying or engaging in negative online behavior.

It's crazy how you'd see business owners using their business pages to drag people online, please repent.

Remember, the internet never forgets.

And that's all for today, Habibi.

Have you ever engaged in unethical marketing before?

Feel free to let me know, I won't bite.
